These peachicks refuse to leave their ‘adopted home’
Thriprayar (Thrissur): The Vazhappully Sree Rajarajeshwari temple at Kazhimbram was home to 4 baby peacocks for the past few months. They had fallen from the banyan tree on the temple premises following a weasel attack.
The temple authorities rescued the peachicks and informed about it to the forest department. The forest department in turn asked the temple authorities to look after them.
Recently the forest department asked the temple committee to release the chicks free but the peachicks hesitated to go away from the temple.
They were being kept in a specially built cage near the temple office. The peachicks are around 4 months old. Even after getting out of the cage, they did not fly away rather preferred to stay on the temple premises, on the roofs and walls.
More peachicks were found near the banyan tree the other day. The temple committee has decided to protect and take care for them.
