The return of the abandoned boy
Gudalur: The little baby who was abandoned by his parents at an Ammothottil (Child Cradle) near the Shaneeshwara temple in Gudalur some years ago, returned years later to the place with his adoptive parents.
The abandoned boy named Senthamizh Selvan, is now now nine years old. Selvan visited the temple premises recently with his adoptive foster parents Jeff and Role, who are Australian citizens . Selvan, who is fondly called Shenthi by his adoptive parents, was found abandoned at the front of the Shaneeshwara temple in Gudalur some years ago.
The baby was first seen by the temple priest’s wife Lakshmi, who had come to sweep the temple premises. The baby was wrapped in old clothes. The police were informed and the baby was taken to the Ammathottil in Coimbatore. Jeff and Roll , a married couple from Australia who did not have children, adopted Selvan and took him to Australia.
Later, a daughter was born to the couple and Selvan got a sister. Selvan, who is now nine years old, does not know Tamil.
Jeff and Role arrived in India to visit the place from where they got Selvan.
