Temple staff hits jackpot twice; Rs 40 lakh then, Rs 5 cr now
Parassinikkadavu: A staff of Parassini Sree Muthappan Temple ‘Madappura’ has hit a jackpot for the second time. A member of Madappura family, P. M. Ajithan won Rs 5 crore worth first prize of the Monsoon Bumper lottery of state government. In 2011, Ajithan had won Rs 40 lakh and 50 sovereigns of gold as the first prize of Win-Win lottery.
It was found out on day of lottery draw that the prize-winning ticket was sold in the premises of the temple. The ticket sold by Muyyam native P. V. Pavithran, who runs a lottery stall at Taliparamba, got the first prize.
However, Pavithran did not remember who bought the ticket from him as it was sold out one month ago. Finally, he came to know that it was Ajithan who bought the prize-winning ticket. The ticket is entrusted with Canara Bank Puthiyatheru branch. Ajithan’s family consists of his wife and two children.
