Taxi drivers save woman who tried to jump off bridge into Thodupuzha river
Thodupuzha: Taxi drivers here on Thursday saved a woman who attempted to jump into Thodupuzha river from a footbridge. The woman has been identified as Karimannur native.
On Thursday at about 3 pm, drivers at the old taxi stand near Gandhi Square spotted a woman walking on the girder underneath of the footbridge near municipality park. Soon, they sounded alarm and rushed to her through the opposite side of the girder. Drivers then brought the woman down safely.
On knowing the incident, Thodupuzha police and scuba diving team of fire and rescue department reached the spot. She was later taken to police station and was sent along with her brother.
Two days before, other state workers here had saved a woman from drowning who jumped into the river from the bridge.
