Snake hidden in bike ‘alights’ at stop; gets back again
Erumeli: A snake ‘travelled’ on a bike about 5 km without the knowledge of rider, and later jumped out of the vehicle when it reached the ‘stop’.
When the rider stopped the bike to see the object that fell from the bike, the snake got back to the bike again. The rider ran away fearing the snake.
The incident took place at Charala bus stop in Erumeli – Mundakkayam road on Thursday at 5.30 pm. The 5 feet long ‘Villoonni’ snake was hiding in the bike of Thumarampara native Saneesh, who is an employee in Ponkunnam gas agency.
When Saneesh passed Charala bus stop on his way from his house to Erumeli, the snake jumped from the bike to the road. Saneesh thought that something from the bike fell down and returned to see what it was. Meanwhile, the snake got back into the bike again. Saneesh got scared and put the bike down and ran away.
The locals also crowded in the place on knowing he incident and searched for the snake in the bike. Since they could not trace the snake, people tried crushed garlic and kerosene to get rid of the snake, but in vain. Finally, a two wheeler workshop owner detached the seat and fuel tank, but could not find anything.
Later, when the bike was started and accelerated, the snake sprang from inside the chase under the tank of the bike and crawled away. Saneesh could resume his journey, only after the snake went away scaring everyone for more than one hour.
