Skilled in sculpture, Dr Muraleedharan can handle wood and chisel too
Kadalundi (Kozhikode): After attending the patients who visit him, Dr Muraleedharan would go straight to his workshop with a chisel. Then he gets immersed in his hobby of sculpture. Residing in Poocherikkunnu of Kadalundi here, Dr Muraleedharan is an ENT surgeon at Feroke ESI Referral Hospital and Chief Medical Officer at Navadhara Pain and Palliative Care in Kadalundi.
Muraleedharan was interested in arts ever since he was a student at Vallikkunnu CBHS School. Later, he switched to sculpture. The doctor arrives at ESI hospital in Feroke at 8 in the morning and spends free time during noon for sculpture on wood.
Dr Muraleedharan takes part in the door-to-door visit of Navadhara palliative care every Thursday. He happened to meet an elderly grandmother during the visit and is now trying to carve her face on wood. He uses the wood pieces found during journeys for carving shapes.
Muraleedharan's wife V P Deepa is BSNL deputy general manager in Kozhikode. The couple has two daughters, Ashitha and Arya, both working as doctors.
