Shaking hands, posing for selfies, ‘Mitra’ robot pulls crowd at NIT
Mukkom (Kozhikode): Robot ‘Mitra’ is pulling crowd at ‘Tathva Fest’ organised at the National Institutes of Technology (NIT) Kozhikode.
The robot is capable of recognising people and responding to voices and moving on its own. ‘Mitra’ is also willing to shake hands with guests and pose for selfies.
Mitra was introduced to the world by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US president’s daughter Ivanka Trump during the Global Entrepreneurship at Hyderabad in 2017.
‘Mitra’ was developed by a 30-member team headed by Balaji Viswanathan at the Bengaluru-based company Invento Robotics. The robot has attended 80 programmes last year and 60 events so far this year. Mitra was brought to Kozhikode NIT from Hyderabad in three segments.
