School radio ‘Pappathikoottam’ of pre-primary students stands out in Covid times
Elathur (Kozhikode): Teachers and parents are in an attempt to save the students from the monotony of the online classes through a novel way of teaching, storytelling and songs. The radio programme titled ‘Pappathikoottam’ introduced by the pre-primary students at KT Muhammed Memorial Government LP School in Puthiyangadi has become a unique venture in the times of Covid.
The 50th episode of the programme will be inaugurated by State Police Chief Anil Kant on Saturday. The newsreader of Akashavani Anil Chandran will become the chief guest of the programme.
The 23 students in the class were divided into 4 groups and they have already completed 49 episodes. The groups including both students and parents together perform engrossing activities through the radio.
The teachers prepare the radio programmes based on the syllabus and send them to students through class groups.
The programme is being conducted as a part of the Radio Red Balloon programme of Samagra Shiksha Kerala (SSK). The school radio is coordinated by N Bindu, a teacher of the same school.
