Sabarimala shrine’s door to be replaced
Pallikkathodu/Sabarimala: The door of the shrine of Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple will be replaced. The old door was found to have decayed in the Devaprasnam (an astrological exercise), which is why the temple authorities decided to replace it with a new one.
The door made in teakwood in specified measurements will be taken from Elamballi Dharma Sastha Temple on Monday morning in order to find if it fits properly to the doorframe. Later, it will be taken back for further engraving and artworks.
It was temple art expert Guruvayur Elavalli Nandanan who made the door. Built at Guruvayur, the door was later taken to Elamballi as requested by the devotees. Last year, two bells to be fixed on the bell platform in front of the Sabarimala shrine was dedicated from Elamballi temple with the cooperation of the devotees in the village.
The door will be plated with gold and adorned with engravings at Hyderabad and brought back to Elamballi Sastha Temple. The gold plated door will later be taken to Sabarimala accompanied by a procession, said Elamballi temple advisory committee president P. R. Unnikrishnan Palath and secretary Biju Kaniyamparambil.
