Kozhikode: A rusted thin iron bar was found in a peanut brittle bought from a shop on the Court road in Kozhikode. Sunil Kumar, a native of East Hill, bought four packets of peanut brittle on December 31 worth Rs 60 each.
Sunil Kumar, a staff of Steel Authority of India at Ranchi office, took peanut brittle and other edibles when he returned to Jharkhand after holidays. He found the iron bar when he opened a packet after reaching Ranchi. Following that, he filed a petition to the food safety department in Kozhikode.
However, P K Eliyamma, Asst. Commissioner of food safety dept. Kozhikode has said that the officials have conducted an enquiry at the R K Sweets, which manufactures and supplies peanut brittle to various shops in the city and collected samples.
