Rs 1 lakh paid for gypsy woman's bail
Cherkkala: A Gypsy woman, who is an accused in the case of snatching a woman’s wedding chain while boarding a bus, secured bail on a bond of Rs 1 lakh.
Marimuthu (38), a native of Nalakatheruvu at Ukkadam in Coimbatore, was given bail on a surety of Rs 1 lakh at the CJM court in Kasargod.
The court had remanded the woman on Tuesday. Following this, an advocate from Ernakulam came to take bail for the woman. The woman secured bail through the efforts of this advocate.
The Gypsy woman had snatched the chain of M Narayani of Karippadi in Bekal. The chain was snatched on December 3, 2011 at the Cherkkala bus stand. Chalakudy police had arrested the woman in a similar case earlier. The woman confessed to chain snatching at Cherkkala when the police questioned her.
The woman, who was in judicial custody, was handed over to Vidyna Nagar police.
Vidyanagar SI P Ajith Kumar said that similar cases were registered against her in various police stations in the state. The woman chose crowded buses to conduct the robberies.
