Kochi: The City Tour Programme initiated by Ernakulam DTPC (District Tourism Promotion Councils) to visit the nook and corner of Kochi has become a huge success. Many people including natives and foreigners keep coming to know Kochi as part of the project.
The major tourist places like Durbar Hall, Vallarpadam Church, Hill Palace, Kerala Folklore Museum, Mattancherry Palace, Indo-Portuguese Museum, Fort Kochi, and Kerala Historical Museum are included in the programme.
The City Tour is conducted by Travelmate Solutions approved by DTPC. The programme is a package that begins and ends in Kochi. Rs 1100 per head is charges for the one-day tour package including lunch, mineral water and entry fees.
Tourists can book for the programme through the website www.keralacitytour.com. The pickup points and the online payment facilities are available in the website. The journey begins at 8 in the morning. Arrangements are made to drop the travelers at the places where they joined the tour programme, in the evening. In addition, DTPC has introduced Kerala City Tours as well. Presently, Munnar and Alappuzha are the destinations of these tour programmes.
DTPC secretary S. Vijayakumar said that 35 tourists can see the city of Kochi for one day, with the assistance of tour guides. This can also ensure safety of the tourists. More than one bus will be made available soon for the tour.
Hop-On-Hop-Off tourism will soon be introduced in Kochi. Besides, there plans to extend city tour to more places. Both natives and foreigners can participate in the tour. The tourists who arrive by ship can also be part of the programme, he added.
