Rescuers recover submerged car; 20 sovereign gold, Rs 10,000 washed away
Kanhangad: Volunteers on Sunday recovered a car submerged in flood water from Arayippuzha in Kasaragod. Though the car was recovered, 20 sovereigns of gold and Rs 10,000 that was inside the car was washed away.
When the car submerged, money kept inside the holder near gearbox and gold kept inside a lady’s bag on the rear seat was lost. When the car was pulled ashore, the doors were in opened state. It is assumed that gold and money was washed away in flood waters.
The car was submerged and washed away in flood waters on Saturday evening. At the time of incident, Chayyoth native Abdul Samad and his wife Najmunnisa were in the car. They are safe.
On Sunday, the car was pulled ashore by police and locals using rope.
