Remnants of egg stuck inside hen's uterus removed through surgery
Kozhikode: The remains of an egg that was stuck inside a hen was taken out through surgery in Kozhikode District Veterinary hospital. The remnants of an egg weighing 410 grams was taken out after the egg did not come out from its uterus.
The hen which weighs 1.5 kg and is a year old did not lay eggs for more than a month. The owner took it to a veterinary hospital in Beypore as it could not walk or eat properly. The real issue came to light after an x-ray was taken.
Following this, the hen was taken to the district veterinary hospital for surgery. The surgery was completed in one and a half hours. The hen is recovering after the surgery.
The surgery was done under the supervision of Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. Vinod. Veterinary surgeon, Dr. Joju Johns, Dr. Arun, Dr. Shahid and Livestock inspector Shajin Lal led the surgery.
