Red banana given by school girl fetches Rs 20,020 in auction; amount donated to CMDRF
Kodenchery: When the office-bearers of Mykkavu Janatha Library arrived home requesting children's contribution to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), Aneena Bijuraj donated a bunch of red banana she planted and taken care of, without a second thought. The banana also fetched a whopping Rs 20,020 when it was put up for auction.
A member of Balavedi, Aneena happily gave her bunch of red banana weighing 10 kilograms. The WhatsApp group community in Mykkavu put the banana for auction. After tight competition, a group of expats in Mykkavu bought the bunch of red banana for Rs 20,020. The entire amount collected through the auction was donated to the CMDRF.
Aneena, daughter of Vadakkethadathil Bijuraj and Sindhu, is a Plus One student in Venappara Higher Secondary School. The office-bearers of the library collected a total of Rs 37,400 including Rs 17,380 from the piggy bank savings of the children who are Balavedi members. The amount was handed over to Thiruvambady MLA George M Thomas.
