Rash driving: Pvt bus driver gets community service at hospital as punishment
Kakkanad: Ernakulam Regional Transport Officer (RTO) K Manojkumar had only one question to the bus driver who was caught for rash driving in the city, "What do you prefer, suspension of driving license or community service at Ernakulam General Hospital?"
The driver had no doubt and chose social work without any hesitation. He was willing to accept the new way of punishment implemented by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in Ernakulam.
MVD officials, the other day, had received a rash driving complaint against a city-service bus named ‘Garudan’. The complainant, who was driving a car was an eyewitness to the bus plying on the Thevara Ferry – Chittoor route being rashly driven endangering fellow road users. According to the complaint, the bus driver Jovin George was driving dangerously through Pallimukku area.
RTO asserted that there won’t be any further legal action against Jovin once he submits the certificate earned from the hospital after his community service.
