Python kept in sack escapes; coils around boy, bites him during bid to catch it
Kakkanad (Ernakulam): A python that was tied in a sack happened to get out of it and coiled around a 16-year-old boy and bit him. Shihab, a Plus Two student was trying to put the snake back into the sack when it attacked him. The incident took place in Chittethukara here on Tuesday morning. The python was kept in the sack for handing over to the forest department.
The migrant labourers spotted the python on Monday night and informed the locals. Later, a snake catcher arrived and caught the snake by 12 at night. When ward councillor Liji Suresh contacted the forest officials, they asked the locals to wait till morning. Following this, the python was tied in a sack and kept in a shop nearby.
When the shop was opened on Tuesday morning to hand over the python to the forest guards, they came to know that the snake escaped from the sack. When Shihab tried to catch the python that crawled outside, it attacked him. As the people around him caught the snake immediately, he was saved.
Though python bite is not dangerous, Shihab took vaccination as suggested by the forest officials before returning home. Ward councillor Liji Suresh said that three pythons were caught from the area within a few days.
