Thiruvananthapuram: The crying puppies were happy to unite with its mother once again. The mother dog, which had left six pups under a tree near the international airport terminal in Thiruvananthapuram, did not return as she was caught by the dog catchers for sterilization. The puppies became anxious on not seeing the mother and started crying, which continued throughout the day.
The villagers, auto and taxi drivers who noticed the crying puppies soon learnt that the mother was taken by corporation workers. They immediately created a makeshift box to secure the abandoned puppies and provided milk. One of the puppies was adopted by a local resident.
Next day, the locals informed the municipal officials. The officials immediately searched the dogs kept in their custody and identified the mother dog. The workers brought the five puppies to its mother at the animal welfare centre in Thiruvallam. The officials said that the dog which was reunited with its puppies is safe and sound.
“After three or four weeks, the puppies will be given to those who are interested in adoption,” said Dr. Shreerag Jayan. The mother dog will undergo sterilization and released back from her confinement.
