No sadyas amid lockdown: tonnes of ash gourd gets dumped leaving farmer in grief
Kannur: The lockdown over coronavirus outbreak continues to disappoint the farmers who cultivated vegetables expecting huge demand in the market. K. Kunhikrishnan Nambiar, a farmer near Pazhassi Kovilakam in Kannur, expressed his grief over tonnes of ash gourd which failed to grab customers.
The farmer cultivated the ash gourd aiming for good sales during weddings and temple festivals. But the lockdown turned a villain to achieve his aim.
He used to cultivate ash guard after harvesting paddy every year.
“I never experienced such a challenge. Ash guards are being stored in the building and sheds close to my house. It lost demand in the market following the lockdown. No wedding feasts and temple festivals are taking place for a long time,” said Kunhikrishnan.
