No improvement in condition of wild elephant that collapsed in forest
Mettupalayam: The treatment for the wild elephant that collapsed in Shirumukha forest range is continuing for the third day. The 8-year-old elephant collapsed on Monday evening. It happened to fall on its right side in the forest near Pethikuttai beat Karuparayan Kovil all of a sudden.
On knowing this, the forest guards gave it banana stem, fruits and water melon on Tuesday. Later, forest veterinary surgeon Dr Sukumaran and team arrived and gave the tusker 21 bottles of glucose, medicines and minerals till evening. Then the elephant seemed a little better and it lay on its left side.
With this, the forest officers moved out of the forest by Tuesday night. However, no progress could be seen in the elephant's condition even after the treatment continued till Wednesday evening. Shirumukha ranger Senthil Kumar said that they will continue treatment in the coming days.
