Njalipoovan and the 'monkey thief'
Kanhangad (Kasaragod): When a 'thief' was all engaged in his act of stealing fruits, he did not realize that it was already daybreak and thus was surrounded by a murder of crows. The 'monkey thief' was smoothly stealing fruits from the shop of Sidhique at Kottachery in Kanhangad here. However, he did not expect the intelligent move of the crows and got trapped.
The fruit robbery has been going on for many days. Sidhique noticed that only the bunch of Njalipoovan banana is being stolen regularly. When he opens the shop, one or two layers of bananas would be missing every day. But no foreign fruits or money kept in the shop were stolen. With this, Sidhique grew suspicious.
The fruits are arranged in front of the shop to prevent them from perishing easily. Sidhique covers them with shade net at night. As the bunch of banana was hanged from the roof, he was sure that no rodent was savouring on it.
When Sidhique came to open the shop on Tuesday morning, he saw crows making noise and flying around the shop. As he removed the shade net, the monkey was found clinging on the bunch of bananas!
Though he was shocked to see the monkey at first, Sidhique called people for help. With this, monkey managed to flee from the crows and ran away.
