Newborn baby wrongly thought to have died cries in ambulance
Adimali (Idukki): A newborn baby who was believed to have died and was taken in an ambulance to home happened to cry midway. The relatives immediately admitted the baby at the Adimali Taluk Hospital following the incident which took place on Thursday.
The baby of Murikkassery natives Prasad and Sreeja was born at Adimali Taluk Hospital on Tuesday. The child was later admitted to the children’s hospital in Kottayam Medical College due to breathing trouble. It was found that the baby suffered a brain injury when the umbilical cord entangled the neck of the baby before birth.
The doctors informed the parents that the baby is less likely to survive once the ventilator is removed. So Prasad requested the doctor to discharge them and take the baby home. They also gave a letter stating that the discharge of the baby was done under their own risk.
When the ventilator was removed, the baby remained motionless and the relatives thought that the baby died. The baby was taken in an ambulance and the parents left in another vehicle to home.
Meanwhile, the baby happened to cry more than once making the relatives panic. They immediatley rushed the infant to Adimali Taluk Hospital.
The relatives had arranged for the funeral of the baby at the house. Presently, the baby continues to be in critical condition at the hospital.
