Alappuzha: Minister for Agriculture VS Sunil Kumar has launched Kuttanad FM 90.0 here on Wednesday. The minister turned radio jockey and interacted with the listeners after inaugurating the radio channel.
‘Kuttanad FM 90.0’ is India’s first community radio launched by the government for the farmers. Minister VS Sunil Kumar and agriculture department director Dr Vasuki presented the first programme on the FM channel.
Dr K Vasuki impressed the listeners by singing the super hit Tamil track ‘Kanne Kalaimane’.
‘Kuttanad FM 90.0’ is being operated from Kalarcode in Alappuzha. People who reside within a 20-kilometre radius of the FM station will be able to listen to this radio channel.
Important notifications for farmers, information related to agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy farm, and folk songs will be broadcasted.
In the initial phase, programmes will be aired from 7 am to 9 am. The broadcasting time will be extended in future.
Kuttanad FM will start broadcasting every day by playing a title song composed by noted music director Vidyadharan Master.
Minister VS Sunil Kumar also inaugurated the construction of the live studio, recording studio and new building for Kerala Centre for Pest Management.
