Kannur: When minister E. P. Jayarajan visited the flood relief camp at Cherukunnu Punnassery St. Mary’s LP School, there was a ‘special guest’ waiting to meet him. Kuppam native Regina ran to the minister and held his hands as a welcome gesture.
“We are quite relieved at this camp. We came here when our house was inundated. Though it is sad to think about our house, there is no problem here. All essential facilities are available,” Regina told the minister.
All of a sudden, the minister asked her, “Aren’t you my old classmate?” to which she replied, “Yes”. Regina was classmate of E. P. Jayarajan at Cherukunnu Government High School. Jayarajan was active in Left wing student union while Regina was a leader of KSU.
“Though we were in opposite sides when it comes to politics, we maintained a brotherly affection between us. It is the same even now,” Regina said. Today Regina is a supporter of CPM and her daughter Nisha is a branch member of the party.
