Mini Theyyam figures made by daily wage worker pulls crowd
Poinachi (Kasaragod): A man started making miniature Theyyam figures for an additional income but the attractive sculpture pulled crowd within a short span of time. Battathoor native Lakshmikanta is the artist who makes mini Theyyam sculptures. Periyattadukkam bus stop is his major marketing place.
All major Theyyam varieties in North Malabar region made into mini art by Lakshmikanta. He uses cloths, wood, plate, coconut leaf midribs and fancy items. He follows eco-friendly method to make mini sculptures.
A daily wage worker, Lakshmikanta manages to get some additional income from the sale of mini sculptures. Lakshmikanta is son of Battathoor native Ramakrishnan and Sarada.
