Man who runs ironing shop in Perumbavoor wins Rs 70 lakh bumper lottery
Perumbavoor: Arasan who runs a 24X7 dress ironing shop at Vanchinadu here has won Rs 70 lakh as Kerala bumper lottery first prize.
The man who is a native of Tirunelveli started his business of dress ironing in a small space under the staircase of a building owned by Anvar here about two and a half decades ago. In the initial days as a presser, Arasan paid a rent of Rs 10 to the building owner.
As his business developed, he shifted to a comfortable place in the same building.
Arasan and his family, including his wife and daughter, are living in a house on rent. His daughter completed his studies and got married from this house.
Arasan purchased the lottery from a Bengali worker who is engaged in lottery sale. With the prize money, he wants to buy a house putting an end to his life in rented houses.
When he got the good news of winning the lottery, he handed over the ticket to the former ward member Shameer Thukal to complete the procedures. Later, the ticket was surrendered before Marambilly service cooperative bank.
Arasan will get cash after deducting 30 percent tax.
