Man raises suicide threat by descending into well with 3-year-old
Atttingal: A man who raised a suicide threat by descending into the well on their courtyard with his 3-year-old daughter was rescued. Chemboor Kattiyad Vinod (38) descended into the well with his daughter Amitha. The neighbours rushed to the spot and tried to pacify Vinod but in vain. At last, the panchayath representatives, police and fire force rescued both of them after 4 ½ hours of continuous effort.
During the rescue mission, Vinod jumped into the well after he put the child into the net bag given by fire force. Fire force officers Aneesh, Sreeroop, and Rajeesh descended the well and saved Vinod and admitted him to Medical College hospital. The highly dangerous rescue mission was supervised by Fire Station Officer Sebastian Lopez, Probation Sub-inspectors of Attingal station Sudeep and Jiby.
A huge crowd gathered on the spot to watch the rescue mission. Financial liability is said to be the reason for Vinod’s suicide attempt. People allege that Vinod has been showing symptoms of mental disorder for the past few days.
