Man makes 'green museum' at farm using eco-friendly materials
Koratty (Thrissur): The intervals during farm works is not mere leisure time for Nalappattu Kunjippailo Varghese. The 68-year-old is busy making artefacts using agricultural produce. He has created a 'green museum' at his farm using the eco-friendly items.
Bamboos grown on the border of the farm is a major raw material for the artworks. Varghese makes agriculture equipment, sailing ship, trophies and even awareness messages for COVID times this way. Among the artefacts he made, a tree house was mostly appreciated by the people.
Varghese switched to farming after retiring from Madura Coats. He had travelled across many states and collected seeds during the journeys. He experiments with seeds every year. Also he tries many local varieties of crops.
Paddy is the major crop in his farm. Apart from this, sesame is cultivated for intercropping. Varghese started making artefacts after he had to stay indoors for a long time during the lockdown.
