Man gets Rs 60 lakh car, gets fancy number for Rs 1.05 lakh; pays 8 lakh fine for late registration
Kasargod: A Kasargod native was fined Rs 8 lakh as he delayed registration of his new vehicle to get his favourite number. But the amount he paid in the auction to het his lucky number was a mere Rs 1.05 lakh. Chenkala Thaivalapp native Ansar had to pay such a huge sum to get a fancy number for his vehicle.
Ansar, who owns a supermarket in Abu Dhabi, bought his desired number in the auction held on Monday. He delayed registration of his brand new Benz car, to get the number ‘KL 14-V1’. The car was purchased 8 months ago for Rs 60 lakh. But Town Circle Inspector caught him last month for not registering the vehicle even after months of buying and made him remit Rs 8 lakhs as penalty.
Seven persons, including Ansar, had applied for the same number in the auction. But as they realized Ansar’s passion for this number, other participants did not bid a higher amount.
