Lifelike bullock cart, elephant on compound wall; painting worker stuns everyone with creativity
Changanassery (Kottayam): Painting worker Aniyappan did not like to sit idle at home and wanted to do something creative during the lockdown. Thus he made a lifelike bull and bullock cart with his artistic skills. His creativity stunned the locals as the bull cart looked so real.
Hailing from Kallukadavu in Ithithanam here, Aniyappan is a painting contractor. He decided to make a bullock cart when he did not get much work during the lockdown. Using scrap materials and cement, the bull and cart was ready within 21 days.
Aniyappan's creativity is visible in the compound wall and courtyard of the house located on a 6.5-cent plot. He has also constructed an elephant and the front portion of a traditional house on the right side of the compound wall.
The front portion of the house was built using actual raw materials. Traditional furniture pieces and agricultural equipment like plough, wheel, milling equipment, knives and many other tools of old times are kept there.
A house boat figure constructed in cement in the courtyard is used for fish farming. Traditional lanterns, telephone, gramophone, ornament boxes and sculpture of Buddha displayed in the house gives it the look of an archaeological centre.
Aniyappan's wife Rajalakshmi, daughters Krishna, a Plus Two student, and Keerthi, a Class 7 student, also support him in his creative ventures. The daughters also have an artistic taste like their father.
