Kitten travels 600 kms inside a car engine
Kottayam: It was a travel for over 600 kilometres mired in heat and dust, trapped helplessly inside the engine of the car. But the kitten had a miraculous escape and was reunited with its mother only with the help of 3 kind hearted friends.
IT staffers Vishnu and Rajeev from Kottayam were returning to Bengaluru to vacate their rented flat after work from home was made permanent. They were accompanied by Thammanam native Avinash on their journey to Bengaluru which started on October 1. The next day when they reached the place, they heard a 'meow’ sound from inside the car. They could see a kitten snuggled up beside the engine.
The kitten was one among the three which was seen playing on the premises of Avinash house. Immediately, they left to the service centre and after a few hours, carefully removed the kitten from the engine. Though the traumatized kitten was offered milk and biscuits, it did not eat due to fear. They took the kitten to the Bengaluru vet hospital and the vet confirmed it was only 3 weeks old. The doctor administered a dose of vitamin injection and it was back to life in full form after a day’s ordeal.
On October 6, when all the three friends returned to Kerala by car, they had a new friend seated along with them on the rear seat. The friends thought of the movie Helen where one could see a rare survival drama unfold and named the kitten HELEN.
On reaching Kochi, they set free Helen on to the terrace of the house. The mother cat came running and the one week of separation vanished in no time.
