Keralite wins National Beard Championship with 38-inch long beard
New Delhi: A Keralite has won first prize in the National Beard and Moustache Championship held in Gurgaon near Delhi. Pathanamthitta Kodumon native Praveen Parameswar became the Beard Champion with his 38-inch long beard which he has been grooming for 7 years.
Praveen put on the traditional Kerala warrior costume on the ramp. He is taking part in the annual event for the third time. He defeated competitors from Rajasthan and Punjab to become the champion.
An IT Engineer by profession, Praveen resigned his job at Techno Park in 2012 due to his passion for acting. He migrated to Kochi to enter the film industry.
Praveen was noted for a song on beard in his debut movie ‘Tamar Padar’. He also acted in movies like ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘Idi’ and Mammootty starrer ‘Ganagandharvan’. Meanwhile, Praveen worked as associate director in some movies.
Praveen started growing his beard when he was rejected from a movie seven years ago for not having a long beard. When asked about his favourite bearded personality, Praveen stroked his long beard and said Karl Marx.
