Kasaragod: D. R. Meghashree, who hails from the neighboring state of Karnataka, will serve as the new sub-collector of Kanhangad.
A native of Chitradurga in Karnataka, Meghashree took charge as the sub-collector of Kanhangad. She became an IAS officer after resigning from her earlier job as a software engineer, realizing that it was not her domain. She passed the Civil Service examination in her second attempt after she did not even clear the prelims in the first try.
Meghashree stated that as someone from Karnataka, she has a special fondness towards Kerala, particularly towards Kasaragod.
She added that the district’s fight against COVID-19 is appreciable, especially with limited resources. She has two children, 6-month-old Dhrithi and two-and-a-half-year-old Vismaya.
Meghashree's father, Rudramuni, who was the chief manager of SBI, is her role model. Meghashree’s husband, Dr. Vikram Sinha, is an assistant professor at Karnataka Agricultural University.
