Kannur girl works as tipper lorry driver after completing graduation in engineering
Kannur: Sreeshma has been passionate about driving from a very early age. She got trained in driving since she was in class 5. Finally, when she completed graduation in engineering, she took up the job of a driver in a tipper lorry.
Sreeshma is the daughter of Kannur Mayyil native Purushothaman, a businessman, and Sreeja, a school teacher. No matter how hard the roads are, Sreeshma will drive the lorry adventurously carrying sand and gravel. People of the village look at her with amazement as a girl working as a lorry driver is very rare.
Purushothaman said that his daughter has been driving the lorry in their house for the past 6 months. She has carried upto 7 loads a day. Sreeshma can drive almost all types of bikes and cars and is even ready to drive buses.
She has also earned license for driving all types of vehicles and is now training to operate earth movers. Once the lorry carrying gravel got stuck in a marsh land at Kayaralam. But Sreeshma managed the situation with the help of locals. She has decided to continue this job until she gets a better one.
Sreeshma graduated from College of Engineering in Mathamangalam and now attends PSC coaching classes. Sreeshma said that other drivers and people behave decently to her no matter where she works as a driver. Her brother Shijil is running a business at Niranthode town.
