Guruvayur temple door decorated with silver
Guruvayur: The door on the west entrance (Padinjare Nada) at Sri Krishna temple in Guruvayur got a makeover with beautiful decorations made of silver.
The silver decorations were offered to the deity on Wednesday following the rituals during noon. A group of devotees from Kumbakonam has made the offering of silver which costs over Rs 50 lakh.
Devaswom chairman KB Mohandas, administrator Breeja Kumari, devotees’ group president Mani Ravichandran and his family members lighted a lamp to make the offering.
80-kilo silver was used for the door decoration. Top of the door decoration featured Lord Krishna, conch shell and Sudarshan chakra. The same group of devotees offered silver decorations for the door on the east entrance of the temple 11 years ago.
Kumbakonam Guruvayoorappa Bhakthasevasangham (a group of devotees) has been making offerings worth lakhs in the temple since 1991.
The devotees’ group has decided to reconstruct ‘nadapanthal’ at west entrance of the temple on August 8, 2021. Around Rs 50 lakh is estimated for the work.
The same group has constructed the ‘nadapandhal’ and another pandhal at the east side of the temple by spending Rs 1 crore.
