Gramani village gears up for beloved Bipathu’s memorial service
Thiruvegappura: Gramani, a village in Palakkad is gearing up to hold a memorial service for their beloved pet dog Bipathu on Tuesday.
The villagers have decided to build a monument in Bipathu’s remembrance.
13 years back, Bipathu had arrived at Gramani. It gradually made the village its home. Shaji Urali and PB Simitha adopted the dog and looked after it along with their pet dog. It was them, who named the dog as Bipathu.
She became the pet of every household here. A special share of food will always be kept for her in all houses.
On December 28, Bipathu was killed in the attack by stray dogs.
On Tuesday, the whole village will come together at 3 pm in memory of Bipathu. Wildlife photographer NA Naseer will speak on ‘Humans and Animals’ at the function. Balavelayudhan–Shyamala couple, who loves and protects dogs, will also be honoured at the function.
The unveiling of Bipathu’s statue, film presentation and drama presentation will also be held at the occasion, said Gramani Koottayma office bearers VS Pramod and Biji Kongorppilli.
