Giant ‘Chandelier Cake’ costs Rs 1.5 lakh, weighs 60 kg; it is truly edible
Thrissur: Soha Ali studied engineering but worked in baking arts field. So, she combined both skills while designing a surprise cake for her relative’s engagement and it simply went viral. Thus Soha from Thrissur became a star with her ‘Chandelier Cakes’.
Soha had already promised her family that she would make the cake for her niece’s betrothal. The event management team also prepared a decorated table to set the cake at the venue. But Soha arrived with bare hands. Even after the engagement ceremonies were over, the table remained empty.
Then Soha slowly pushed aside the 10-feet high curtain near the stage and revealed three huge chandelier cakes. The cakes weighing 60 kilograms were hanging by a chain and iron frame. The four-tier cake was made at an expense of over Rs 1.5 lakh. Every guest at the function were amazed to see the chandelier cake.
Soha completed engineering from a college in Kuttippuram and Pastry and Bakery Arts from New York. She started her career in bakery arts and worked as pastry and bakery chef at Leela Group’s Hotel in Bengaluru. Later, she left the job and started a chocolate cake centre named ‘Wild Cacao’ in Begaluru itself.
Soha managed to make the giant chandelier cake spending 8 hours per day for 12 days. She said that she raises her three children with the income from this job. Soha is daughter of Muhammed Ali and Ramla.
