From Taj Mahal to Sabarimala, youth crafts wonders with bamboo during lockdown
Panamaram: When the whole country was placed under lockdown over the COVID-19 outbreak, this young man was busy making miniature buildings including Taj Mahal and Sabarimala from Bamboo.
Babu, a native of Kavadam colony here is the craftsman who hopes to find a market for his works on bamboo.
Though Babu never visited Taj Mahal, he beautifully crafted a miniature Taj Mahal with bamboo sticks. As a born craftsman, Babu always tries to make miniature versions of things from his childhood.
Along with bamboo, he uses wood to make various miniature items. Among these items, guitar, trishul (three-pronged spear) and veena are the major attractions in his art gallery.
Babu had dropped out of school in 7th standard. Though he is not a trained craftsman, Babu surprises all with his amazing works. Talking to Mathrubhumi, Babu stated that nobody encouraged him to take up crafts making as a serious profession.
Babu is the son of Mannan and Karappi. His family also includes his wife Sindhu and their three children Sreenandu, Sreenath and Sreenanda.
Babu looks after his family, including his aged parents, by doing daily wage works. Babu hopes that he can earn a better income if he finds a market for his crafts.
