Food court in Youth Fest serves food for 50,000 people in 3 days
Kanhangad: Everyone who attended the 60th State School Youth Festival praised the organisers for the arrangement in the food court. Food committee chairman K. P. Kunhikkannan and P. Sasidharan said that the perfection in organising is behind the success. About 50,000 people were given food at the ‘Oottupura’ within three days.
Breakfast including Puttu-Kadala and Idli-chutney is served till 11 in the morning. At night, traditional Kerala Sadya except Payasam is served. A total of 18 counters are functioning here. More than 600 teachers serve the food. All of them have uniforms.
The Kerala Pradesh School Teachers' Association (KPSTA) is the sub-committee of the food committee. The sub district level groups of the association joined hands to gather ingredients for the food. They managed to collect 12 tonnes of rice, 12,500 coconuts, 750 kilo onion, 250 kilo yam, 400 kilo banana and other items.
A total of 212 cylinders of gas were used for cooking. The systems arranged for removing waste water and food waste were ideal. 2000 packs of vegetable biryani have been prepared to be given to the candidates who return home on Sunday afternoon.
Mathrubhumi Seed activists, DYFI and other organisations are active at the venues to supply food for the participants and officials. Scout and guides, NSS, NCC and SPC members also are active at the food court to help with the chores.
