Fishing hook pierces into woman’s eye; removed without affecting vision
Ambalappuzha: In a miraculous incident, a fishing hook that pierced into the eye of a woman, was removed without affecting her vision and causing any injury to the eyeball. The emergency surgery was successfully performed at Alappuzha Medical College hospital on Friday.
The hook pierced into Thottappally native Pushpa’s eye when she tried to shake a fishing net kept near her house. The hook pierced into the side of the right eye. She was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident.
The doctors at the casualty could not take the hook out as its sharp bend had penetrated into the fleshy part of the eye. Thus she was shifted to the operation theatre and the hook was taken out after a one-hour long surgery. Associate Professor of Ophthalmology Dr. Manoj Venugopal, Dr. Sija and Dr. Dhanya performed the surgery.
