Few minutes of horror in a packed Vivek Express as cobra found coiled in engine
Kaduthuruthy: In a freak incident, an Express train was stopped on the Kottayam-Ernakulam route on spotting a snake in the pantograph which transmits power to the engine. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in Vivek Express which was traveling from Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari.
The loco pilot saw a cobra spreading its hood when the train reached railway station in Vaikom road. The train was stopped immediately. A short circuit also resulted from the pantograph. The officials reached the spot and resolved the technical issues. They said that the snake died of electric shock.
The incident happened at 7.30 am and the train was able to move only by 9 am. Trains were held up in different stations. Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Island Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur Venad Express, Kollam-Ernakulam Memu, Ernakulam-Kayamkulam Passenger, Parasuram and Sabari Expresses were delayed by hours.
