Family removes waste dumped on roadside after police intervention
Malappuram: Police forced a family in Malappuram remove the waste that they dumped on the roadside after hosting a wedding ceremony. The action was taken after Pothukallu police held an investigation regarding who dumped waste and identified the family as the culprits.
The wedding reception took place on September 10 at a house near Andikkunnu in Pothukallu. After the reception, the family dumped all the waste on the side of Sulthanpadi- Pookkottumanna road.
Pothukallu police started an investigation in this regard the very next day itself. It was easy for the police to identify the culprits as families have to register and secure permission to host wedding receptions as part of COVID regulations.
Police identified that it was the family from Andikkunnu that dumped the waste after inspecting the list of applicants. Following this, the family informed the police that they will remove the waste by themselves. The family was helped by trauma care workers and locals as well.
The case was investigated by Pothukallu SI Abbas, senior civil police officer Madhu Kuriakose, civil police officers Saleel Babu, Krishnadas and Mujeeb.
