Educationist-writer P Chithran Namboodirippad turns 102
Thrissur: Educationist and writer P Chithran Namboodirippad is going to celebrate his 102th birthday after Christmas on December 26. According to Malayalam calendar, his birthday falls on Bharani day of Dhanu month. Considering COVID situations, Chithran Namboodirippad will celebrate the birthday along with his close relatives at his residence in Chembukkavu in Thrissur.
One of the pioneers of the State School Youth Festival, Chithran Namboodirippad had served as DEO in various districts. He retired as Deputy Director of Education in 1979. He had also served as SSLC Board member, Education Advisory Committee member, Secondary Education Advisory Committee of the central government, Kerala Kalamandalam secretary.
Chithran Namboodirippad had travelled to Himalayas when he was in service and later visited the mountain range over 30 times continuously. He was 100 years old when he last visited Himalaya. He opined that his disciplined life and balanced sleep, food and lifestyle is the secret of his health even at this age. He also practices Yoga.
He regularly reads four newspapers and starts with Mathrubhumi. He said that his bonding with Mathrubhumi started from his childhood days spent in Pakaravoor. Apart from reading, he also regularly watches cricket matches. At 102, his only wish is prosperity for the entire world – ‘Lokasamstha Sukhino Bhavanthu’.
