Drink tea and eat the cup; 'Biscuit tea' trending in Nellimattom
Kothamangalam (Ernakulam): Attracting food lovers, a biscuit tea is trending in Nellimattom town here. One can have a cup of tea along with biscuit in different flavours. But instead of dipping the biscuit in tea, the tea is served in a cup made of biscuit. The tea is attracting many with its different taste and aroma.
The biscuit cup is helpful in reducing pollution caused by throwing away disposable cups and also helps to adhere to COVID protocol as the cup is for single use. As the buyer consumes the cup along with the tea, no other person comes in contact with it.
The new biscuit tea is available at Bajji shop owned by Nellimattom native Sasikumar. Biscuit tea can be enjoyed with a wide variety of Bajjis including chilli, egg, onion, raw banana and potato. After biscuit tea was introduced, Bajji shop is witnessing increased sales every day.
Sasikumar’s son Aneesh said that over 300 biscuit teas are being sold every day. The price of one biscuit tea is Rs 20. Apart from the normal taste of biscuit, chocolate flavour is also available. Biscuit tea was introduced only two weeks ago.
Aneesh came to know about biscuit tea during a journey to Thiruvananthapuram. Later, he found biscuit cups in Chennai after searching in many places. Sasikumar and family managed to overcome the COVID crisis through biscuit tea cups.
