Dreamt to see daughter as IAS officer; but dies before her training ends
Kolenchery: KK Surendran (59), father of civil service Kerala topper 2018, Shikha Surendran passed away without fulfilling his wish to see his daughter as an IAS officer. After securing the top place in the state charts of the civil service exam, Shikha first underwent training in Mussoorie and is now in Nagpur for administration. Surendran retreated from life without seeing his daughter as an IAS officer which was his long cherished dream.
Surendran has been under treatment for diabetes for many years. After reaching home from Kolenchery medical college, he was again admitted to hospital as he turned weak. However, he passed away at the hospital by Wednesday noon.
Currently, Shikha is under training in Nagpur. Seeing his daughter as a district collector was his greatest dream. He led the family by doing various jobs like running a tuition center, a match stick company and working in Kauvery Plastic company. The financial stability of the family collapsed after Surendran fell ill. Yet, Shikha was sent for IAS training. Her education was not compromised even when the family lived with the mere income of his wife, Silo.
Surendran dreamt of welcoming his daughter as an IAS officer, when she returns after triaining. But, the fate failed him.
