Vaikom (Kottayam): The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) have joined hands to allow people to dine inside a bus here.
A restaurant is being set up in the shape of a double decker bus, soon after a boat restaurant was opened near Vaikom beach.
Venad bus, which was abandoned in the KSRTC depot, is being transformed into a double decker bus shaped restaurant. The ground floor of the bus is air conditioned while the top floor will be set up as an open deck. A garden will be made around the restaurant so that visitors can sit inside the garden. A hi-tech public toilet will be constructed near it for the people visiting the restaurant and the beach.
The construction is handled by the employees of the mechanical wing at Vaikom KSRTC depot. 50 people can dine in the restaurant at the same time. Along with this, the boat shaped restaurant will be renovated. KTDC has allotted Rs 40 lakh for the construction and renovation of the restaurants.
