Dismantling operations of crashed AI Express begins
Karipur: The dismantling procedures of the Air India Express flight that crashed at Karipur International Airport on Friday killing 18 people, began on Monday. The plane had broken off into two pieces after it skidded off the runway after landing and plunged 35 feet deep into the valley below.
The parts were covered using tarpaulin sheets and main parts inside the aircraft were being removed.
A team of engineers and senior officials has arrived here from Air India headquarters.
The team probing into the incident collected evidences from airport authority and air traffic control unit. They collected details including ACT documents from 7.30 pm to 8 pm on Friday when the accident happened.
This would be compared to the information obtained from the black box of the aircraft. After this, a clear picture of the accident is expected to be obtained.
Meanwhile, one frontal half of the aircraft, which fell into the canal nearby, including engines haven’t been taken out. This requires more machinery.
At present works are ongoing to cut and remove pieces of the aircraft and dismantling possible parts.
The runway cross road has been completely sealed off by police.
