Disability couldn’t stop Saji, a lottery retailer, from winning silver
Ponnani: Saji proves that nothing can be a barrier when determination is strong. Winning silver medal in the Paralympic Powerlifting Championship with both legs being dysfunctional is the result of pure perseverance of this Tavanur native.
Saji meets the expenses of the championships by selling lotteries. He says the governments do not provide any financial help to people like him.
At the age of four, he was affected with Polio which resulted in fainting of both his legs. But winning over his disability, he completed his education till plus two with the help of his friends and family and later on he joined the gymnesium.
Saji was the winner of the District Body Championship for differently abled persons six times and runner up of the State Championship twice.
Saji is all set to take part in the National Paralympic Championship that will be held at Delhi on July 27 under the training of Unnikrishnan, the instructer at Hercules Gymnesium at Ponnani. This is his second appearance at the national championship.
