Vadakkanchery: In order to appreciate traditional art forms such as Kathakali, Koodiyattam and Krishnannattam, one should have a basic understanding of the ‘mudras’ along with a passion for the art. Kathakali artiste Kalamandalam Vijayakumar, who runs a Kathakali theatre in Britain called ‘Kalachethana’ , has come up with a way to learn these mudras online. Vijayakumar has introduceda digital book that would enable one to appreciate Kathakali more by understanding the mudras.
The digital book on Kathakali mudras will be available on the website www.kathakalimudras.com.
This would help anyone from any part of the world to get educated on the mudras. Vijayakumar stated that all the mudras in Kathakali can be learned within a period of 3 months.
The mudras have been included in the digital book as per English alphabets.
Vijayakumar is married to Barbara, who is also a Kathakali artiste.
