Crows keep attacking Wayanad man for over 1 yr; seeking ways to end enmity
Ambalavayal (Wayanad): This is a bizarre real life story of a crow’s vengeance to a man. Tractor driver Mohanan is being attacked by crows for the past one and a half years. If he ever goes out without an umbrella or a stick with him, he will definitely be attacked by the crows. There is an interesting story behind this 'phenomenon'.
Edakkal Native Mohanan has been working a tractor driver in Ambalavayal town for 30 years. About one and a half years ago, Mohanan found two hatchlings of crow under the tractor. He shifted them to a safe place. The mother crow was watching this from top of a tree nearby. After this incident, the crow hatchlings were nowhere to be seen.
After a few days, a puppy covered in tar was found in the place. Mohanan and his friends cleaned the puppy using diesel and kerosene. The mother crow watched this incident also. It is assumed, that the crow might have misunderstood Mohanan was handling its hatchlings, which is why it keeps following him.
The crows that sit on trees near the bus stand premises will come flying once Mohanan arrives at the place. They make loud noise and keep attacking him. Now the mother crow is accompanied by two other crows too.
Mohanan is compelled to take umbrella or stick with him once he alights from the tractor. When the crows attacked Mohanan six months ago, they ripped the canopy of his new umbrella. The crows have not attacked anyone else here ever, but they dislike Mohanan. He said funnily that the crows even know the number of his vehicle.
Mohanan had tried all ways to escape from the crows. He changed his usual dressing style and even stayed away from the bus stand for one week. But the crows never forgot him. "I give a share from my lunch to the crows. Once they finish eating it, they will start attacking me again," Mohanan said laughing.
The enmity between crows and Mohanan is a matter of curiosity for those in the bus stand premises. When his friends and colleagues take this as a joke, Mohanan is still thinking of a way to end the fury of the crows.
